Masrour Barzani praised Thursday’s oil export agreement with Baghdad, describing it as the outcome of "hard work and efforts” by delegations from all sides.
"I congratulate everyone, especially the resistant people of Kurdistan, who removed a major obstacle to providing the financial entitlements of the Kurdish people on this historic day,” Barzani said in a message following the announcement.
He added that the deal "re-connected the Kurdistan Region’s fields to the world oil market,” marking a breakthrough after months of political and financial deadlock.
The spokesman of the outgoing KRG cabinet earlier said the agreement was set for three months. Barzani, however, emphasized its symbolic and practical significance, framing it as a historic achievement for the people of the Kurdistan Region.
