The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced on Saturday that the bodies of 19 migrants have been recovered off the coast of Libya, while 12 others were rescued and 42 remain missing.

According to an IOM spokesperson, a boat carrying more than 70 Sudanese and South Sudanese citizens sank about 10 days ago near the Libyan town of Kambut. Five days after the sinking, rescue teams recovered the bodies of 19 migrants and managed to save 12 survivors. However, the fate of 42 others remains unknown.

The incident highlights the ongoing dangers faced by migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean in search of safety and better opportunities in Europe. The IOM reiterated its call for stronger international efforts to protect migrants and prevent further tragedies along migration routes.
