The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has signed a three-month agreement with Baghdad to resume oil exports within the next 48 hours, government spokesman Peshawar Hawramany announced on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

At a press conference, Hawramany said the remittance of 120 billion dinars will place heavy pressure on the Kurdistan Region and confirmed that the KRG will also request allocations in next year’s budget. He added that oil production has reached 234,000 barrels per day and emphasized that the agreement with Baghdad and oil companies covers both oil and non-oil revenues but is limited to three months.

Earlier, NRT reported that the PUK and KDP governments intend to hand over oil ahead of the elections but may halt deliveries afterward to use the deal as part of their campaigns.
