Srwa Abdulwahid, the head of the New Generation Movement faction in the Iraqi parliament, revealed on Sunday that Iraq’s prime minister told her the government is waiting for the Kurdistan Region to resume oil exports. Once exports restart, the federal government will be able to address the salary problem.

She stressed that salary payments also depend on a report from the State Council and warned that Baghdad fears the PUK and KDP will obstruct exports after the elections, as they have a history of withdrawing from agreements.

Abdulwahid argued that if the two ruling parties truly cared for citizens, they would have honored agreements six months ago. Instead, she said, they mislead people for electoral purposes, such as promising two salary payments.

She emphasized that the PUK and KDP cannot be trusted, accusing them of creating ongoing crises. In contrast, she said, the New Generation Movement is committed to ensuring salaries are distributed on time.

She also recalled Shaswar Abdulwahid’s earlier warnings that the situation would worsen under the current parties’ dominance, describing him as a political prisoner without evidence against him.

Finally, Abdulwahid dismissed claims that the New Generation Movement is weakening, saying the movement remains strong and will continue pressing for a solution to the salary problem.
