The Iraqi Interior Ministry has denied rumors circulating in local media that the national card data of citizens in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region had been hacked.
According to media reports on Monday, September 8, 2025, claims surfaced that an external group had hacked into the system and obtained the personal data of Iraqi citizens, including those in the Kurdistan Region, over the past two years.
In response, Interior Ministry spokesman Abbas Bahadli told NRT that these reports are baseless. He stressed that the system protecting the national card data is international, highly advanced, and "impossible to hack.”
