The value of Iraq’s gold reserves has surpassed 24 trillion dinars, marking the highest level in the country’s history.

The Future Iraq Institute for Economic Research announced on Wednesday that Iraq’s gold reserves now account for 20 percent of the Central Bank’s total reserves, which amount to 123 trillion dinars.

According to the institute, the value of the country’s gold holdings has risen by 13 percent compared to last year and by 135 percent since 2022. It emphasized that Iraq had never before reached this record level since the establishment of the Central Bank.
