A fire broke out on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in a market in Kirkuk, engulfing a mall and several shops, according to NRT.
Witnesses said the blaze was likely caused by an electrical short circuit inside one of the shops. The fire spread quickly due to the chinco and insulation roofing, which fueled the flames.
Civil defense teams rushed to the scene and worked to bring the fire under control. While no fatalities were reported, several people sustained minor injuries, and the losses were primarily material damages.
