Some students from outside Sulaimanyah gathered at a private university on Saturday, September 27, 2025, to protest the high student accommodation fees, which they say exceed 300,000 dinars and are unaffordable.
The students explained that in previous years they were allowed to stay in external accommodations because the university did not have an internal department. This year, however, the university opened an internal department and requires all students to stay there and pay the higher fees.
They stressed that paying such amounts is difficult due to low salaries and poor financial conditions.
