The Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources has announced that Iraq will not face a shortage of drinking water this year, citing an agreement with Turkey to boost water flow.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said it has implemented several measures to address water scarcity, including securing increased water discharge from Turkey to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

"We expect heavy rainfall this year, which will help resolve Iraq’s water shortage issues,” the ministry added.

Earlier, the ministry confirmed an agreement with Turkey to provide 500 billion cubic meters of water to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers during October and November.
