The High Peace Committee of Sulaimanyah Province for the Iraqi parliamentary elections has announced a set of laws and guidelines to regulate the upcoming vote, emphasizing strict compliance with the Independent High Election Commission’s (IHEC) instructions.
According to the committee’s statement on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the use of mobile phones and any form of photography inside polling stations during both private and public voting is strictly prohibited. The committee also warned that any candidate who uses government or religious institutions, or their equipment, for campaigning will face legal and financial penalties.
The new measures require all government offices, municipalities, and traffic police to coordinate with the committee to enforce campaign regulations. Additionally, a special IHEC center has been established to monitor campaign activities on social media, with violators facing disqualification from the elections.
Observers, journalists, and representatives of local or international organizations will only be allowed to visit polling stations if they possess official authorization from the IHEC.
