The Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture has announced a ban on the import of chickens and all types of poultry from 39 countries following the spread of bird flu.

Mahdi Zamad Qaisi, an advisor to the ministry, told Al-Sabah newspaper that the ban includes live and frozen chickens, their products, and eggs from countries such as Turkey, Egypt, Iran, Italy, Sweden, and Britain.

He explained that the decision was made based on data from the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), which confirmed the detection of multiple cases of bird flu in the affected countries.

The ban will remain in effect until the countries in question officially declare the disease eradicated and the announcement is verified by the World Organization for Animal Health.
