The Ministry of Electricity of the Kurdistan Regional Government has announced that power will be cut for five consecutive days in several neighborhoods of Sulaimanyah, affecting the so-called 24-hour electricity supply project.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, October 12, 2025, electricity will be cut daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in a number of neighborhoods, including Kaziwa, Ibrahim Ahmad, Azadi, Shahidan, Goyzha New, Darogha, Hawari Shar, Kalakan, and Sardaw.

The ministry attributed the outages to maintenance and technical work on the network. However, despite high costs and repeated protests from citizens, the expensive 24-hour electricity project has failed to ensure continuous power and has faced several interruptions in most areas.
