Kurdistan Region Minister of Natural Resources Kamal Mohammed said Thursday that as long as oil deliveries to Baghdad continue, there will be no problems paying salaries.
Speaking to media affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Mohammed said that more than 2.1 million barrels of oil have been delivered to the Ceyhan port so far. He emphasized that oil was the main point of contention between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region, noting that maintaining regular deliveries ensures the stability of salary payments.
He also announced that kerosene distribution to households in mountainous areas will begin this month.
The outgoing government had earlier signed a three-month oil agreement ahead of the elections, which critics say was used as part of its campaign and could be abandoned afterward, potentially worsening the financial situation of salaried employees.
