A New Generation Movement lawmaker revealed new details on the conditions for releasing public sector salaries, stressing that the Kurdistan Region must comply with Baghdad’s financial requirements.

Rebwar Awrahman, a member of the Iraqi parliament, said on Tuesday that the federal government will only send salaries if the Kurdistan Region hands over both oil and non-oil revenues. He also noted that Baghdad has specifically asked for the money deducted from employees’ wages in the name of pension contributions.

"The salaries will not be sent until the expired government implements these conditions,” Awrahman warned, adding that if the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) fail to comply, the situation of salaried employees will further deteriorate.

He accused the PUK and KDP of promoting a temporary agreement for electoral purposes, warning that they will not hand over oil, revenues, or pension funds to Baghdad after the elections. "The PUK and KDP must end their policy of starving citizens,” he concluded.
