Judge Munzir Ibrahim was officially sworn in as the new president of the Federal Supreme Court of Iraq. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Iraqi President Latif Rashid following the retirement of former president Judge Jassim Abdou due to health reasons.

The Iraqi Judicial Council confirmed that the appointment comes as part of ongoing efforts to maintain the continuity and strength of Iraq’s judiciary. Judge Munzir Ibrahim, born in Baghdad in 1963, holds a law degree from Baghdad University (1989) and is a graduate of the Judicial Institute (1998). Prior to this appointment, he served as the deputy president of the Federal Court of Appeal.

The Federal Supreme Court plays a critical role in interpreting the constitution, overseeing election disputes, and ensuring the legality of legislation in Iraq.
