The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Foreign Relations Office described last night’s attack on the Kormor gas field as a terrorist act and urged the international community to support the region by providing air defense systems to protect its vital infrastructure.

In a statement released on Thursday, the office said the attack directly targeted the region’s economic infrastructure, public services, and ongoing investment projects. It expressed concern that similar assaults have occurred repeatedly in the past, yet despite identifying those responsible, no meaningful actions have been taken to stop them.

The Foreign Relations Office called on the Iraqi federal government to conduct a serious and comprehensive investigation this time, ensure accountability, and take decisive steps to prevent future attacks.

The statement added that the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region are deeply connected to global interests, stressing that protecting energy infrastructure is essential not only for local stability but for international economic security as well. Therefore, the office urged the international community to provide air defense systems to help defend the region against such threats.
