International condemnation of the attack on the Kormor gas field continues to widen, with both the United Kingdom and France issuing strong statements against the incident.
The British Consulate General in Erbil released a statement on Thursday, firmly condemning the attack on the Kormor field the previous night. The consulate stressed that any assault on critical infrastructure poses a direct threat to Iraq’s stability and to the safety and well-being of its people. The United Kingdom reiterated its support for its Iraqi partners and emphasized the importance of protecting essential facilities, calling for those responsible to be pursued and held accountable.
Similarly, French Ambassador to Iraq Patrick Dorrel condemned the attack in a post on the social platform X. He highlighted that energy infrastructure serves all citizens and plays a crucial role in the country’s overall stability. Dorrel reaffirmed France’s commitment to Iraq’s security, including that of the Kurdistan Region, and stressed the need to safeguard strategic energy sites from such threats.
The coordinated reactions from Britain and France reflect growing international concern over the security of Iraq’s vital energy assets.
