Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani phoned Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Thursday to strongly condemn the attack on the Kormor gas field. Sudani described the incident as a direct assault not only on the KRG but on all of Iraq, stressing that such attacks target the country’s economic infrastructure and energy stability.
"An attack on the Kormor gas field means an attack on the whole of Iraq,” Sudani said during the call.
Both leaders emphasized the urgency of addressing the security breach and agreed on the immediate formation of a joint investigative committee. The committee will work to uncover the circumstances of the attack, identify those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice.
Sudani reaffirmed Baghdad’s commitment to supporting stability in the Kurdistan Region and safeguarding all strategic national facilities across Iraq.
