The Commander of Baghdad Operations, Brigadier General Walid Khalifa Tamimi, announced that a detailed security plan has been prepared for the upcoming election days to safeguard the electoral process and ensure stability across the capital.

Tamimi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on Tuesday that the plan is rooted in the forces’ national responsibility to provide a safe and peaceful environment for voters, candidates, and polling station staff.

He said the plan includes the distribution of duties and responsibilities among all units and security sectors within Baghdad’s area of responsibility. It also emphasizes the rapid exchange of information between the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), intelligence agencies, and supporting security bodies, in addition to the activation of surveillance systems and cameras to detect any suspicious or unlawful activity.

Tamimi stressed that the Baghdad Operations Command is fully committed to professionalism and neutrality, maintaining equal distance from all political parties and candidates. He added that the security forces are working with full dedication to ensure free, fair, and safe elections, reflecting the true spirit of democracy in Iraq.
