The outgoing Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has begun selling kerosene to citizens, charging 103,500 dinars per barrel, despite receiving subsidized oil from Baghdad for domestic use.
According to reports, the federal government provides the Kurdistan Region with 50,000 barrels of oil daily to supply citizens with kerosene, gasoline, and diesel at reduced prices. However, instead of distributing it affordably, the outgoing government has resumed sales in mountainous areas at significantly higher prices.
Sources indicate that the oil provided by Baghdad is handed over to companies affiliated with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), which then sell it to the public at inflated rates.
