Heavy rains continued on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, causing all dams and ponds in the Garmian area to overflow. According to local authorities, the three main dams in the region, Bawshaswar, Awaspi and Tuajar — have exceeded their storage capacity due to the intensity of the rainfall.
Bawshaswar Dam in Kufri, Awaspi Dam in Khanaqin and Tuajar Dam in Sheikh Tawil collectively hold around 30 million cubic meters of water. As of today, all three dams are overflowing and releasing water downstream.
Officials are monitoring the situation closely as rainfall is expected to continue.
