The Iraqi government has suspended imports of gasoline and kerosene as domestic production now exceeds local consumption, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani announced Tuesday.
According to an official letter, the government will manage the surplus of gasoline and kerosene through special mechanisms and controls and plans to start exporting these products. Over the past three years, several new refineries have been opened to boost domestic production of gasoline, oil, and gas to meet local needs and reduce reliance on imports.
