Sixty-three female students from Tavga Girls High School in Chamchamal, Sulaimanyah province, have warned they will drop out of school if their class schedule is not changed.
The students issued a statement saying their class hours were first changed from 2–6 pm. to 4:15–8 pm., which makes it difficult for them to attend lessons.
"Some of us were previously excluded from school, and returning to our studies gave us great hope, but unfortunately we have now been disappointed,” the statement read.
They said the late class hours conflict with their family duties. "Returning home at eight o’clock at night is not appropriate for us, as many of us are responsible for our families, household chores, and caring for children,” they added.
The students urged Chamchamal’s education department and the Ministry of Education to adjust the schedule, warning that if it remains unchanged, they will be forced to stop attending classes.
