The Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture announced on Saturday a ban on the import of 11 agricultural products as part of its ongoing efforts to regulate prices and support domestic production.

In a statement, the ministry said its import policy is based on the agricultural calendar, which is continuously updated in line with the availability or shortage of local crops. The policy aims to ensure market stability and prevent sharp price increases.

According to the latest update, the import ban includes beets, turnips, lettuce, cauliflower, zucchini, eggplant, and potatoes, in addition to edible eggs, chicken, honey, and dates.

The ministry also noted that the import of tomatoes is currently permitted, but this decision may change depending on developments in domestic production in the coming period.
