To commemorate the 156th anniversary of the establishment of Halabja, a series of diverse artistic and cultural activities will be held today.
Two years ago, the Halabja provincial administration met with the committee responsible for determining the day of Halabja and decided that November 24 of each year would be marked as Halabja Day, following the broadcast of a documentary program on NRT confirming the historical governance of Halabja.
According to historical sources, November 24, 1869, is recorded as the date when the first governor of Halabja was appointed during the Ottoman rule.
Mohammed Pasha Jaf was appointed the first governor of Halabja on November 24, 1869. He is considered one of the most prominent figures in Halabja and the Kurdistan Region.
Meanwhile, the main road connecting Halabja and Hawramabad will be closed to traffic today from 10:00 am to 11:00 am as part of the day’s arrangements.
