The Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) announced Thursday that it has begun exporting crude oil from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) fields under its direct supervision.
According to SOMO, the first shipment was loaded onto the oil tanker Valisena at the Turkish World Port, in coordination with employees of the Northern Oil Company. The company emphasized that the process was conducted according to mechanisms approved by the federal government, ensuring financial and administrative transparency.
SOMO stated that its specialized teams directly oversaw the loading stages, verifying compliance with international technical standards. The company added that this step demonstrates Iraq’s commitment to strengthening national control over its energy resources and reinforcing its role as a reliable supplier in global oil markets.
