A member of the Shiite Coordination Framework has confirmed that four candidates remain in contention for the post of Prime Minister of Iraq, with a final decision expected in the coming hours.
Speaking on Thursday, Ayat Muzaffar Nuri, a member of the State Forces Coalition within the Coordination Framework, said discussions among the alliance have narrowed the list of candidates to four names.
He added that Ahmed al-Assad, the Shiite nominee for the post of First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, leader of the Sudanese Coalition, and current Minister of Social Affairs, was the only name discussed for that parliamentary position.
