The Federal Supreme Court (FSC) on Sunday approved the results of the Iraqi parliamentary elections following constitutional procedures required to form the next government.
According to Article 54 of the Iraqi constitution, after the results are recognized by the Federal Court, the president is required to summon the newly elected members of parliament to a meeting within 15 days through a republican decree. The oldest member of parliament will preside over this initial session.
This approval paves the way for the formal convening of parliament and the subsequent process of forming Iraq’s next government.
