The coordination framework is set to meet on Monday, December 15, 2025, to discuss and decide on the post of the next prime minister.
According to several sources within the coordination framework who spoke to Iraqi media, the meeting is expected to lead to a final decision on nominating a candidate for the premiership.
A member of the Hikma Movement said Shiite political forces are working to form a new cabinet within the constitutional timeframe and to settle the issue of the prime minister’s post as soon as possible.
So far, nine candidates are being considered by the coordination framework, with Mohammed Shia Sudani and Nouri al-Maliki emerging as the most prominent contenders.
