The Shiite Coordination Framework met last night but failed to reach an agreement on appointing a candidate for the post of prime minister.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the framework said that selecting a prime ministerial candidate should be treated as an urgent matter, in line with constitutional requirements and the demands of the next phase.
The meeting also discussed the outcomes of successive meetings held by the framework’s sub committees and reviewed the latest domestic and international developments.
Meanwhile, the Coordination Framework reaffirmed its support for restricting weapons to the hands of the state, stressing that this must be carried out through clear legal procedures to strengthen state sovereignty and maintain security and stability.
