Afghanistan and Pakistan are scheduled to resume talks in Turkey today in an effort to prevent further fighting that left dozens dead last month.
The talks follow an agreement reached in Istanbul last week between Turkey and Qatar to facilitate dialogue after the two countries agreed to a ceasefire in Qatar earlier in November.
According to reports, both sides have accused each other of not negotiating in good faith and warned that the talks could fail, potentially leading to renewed tensions.
Turkish authorities said the new meeting will serve as a monitoring and verification mechanism to ensure the ceasefire is maintained and sanctions are imposed on any party that violates the agreement.
