Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani announced on Thursday the formal adoption of electronic signatures across government institutions, private sector dealings, and citizen transactions. The measure follows the enforcement of the Electronic Signatures and Electronic Transactions Law No. 78 of 2012, along with its issued guidelines.

Sudani said the step marks a milestone in fulfilling the government’s program to advance digital transformation and simplify bureaucratic procedures. He stressed that adopting electronic signatures would significantly improve service delivery, reduce administrative and financial corruption, and ease the burden of traditional paper-based transactions.

"This globally recognized measure will strengthen citizens’ confidence in the procedures of the state and its institutions,” Sudani stated. "It ensures that all government and private sector transactions meet international standards of security and efficiency.”

The initiative is expected to modernize Iraq’s public administration, making it more transparent and accessible while boosting confidence in digital governance.
