On Thursday, September 18, 2025, the outgoing government announced a ban on publishing or broadcasting crime-related content. A letter was sent to ministries and institutions instructing that no television channels, news outlets, or social media pages are allowed to cover or share videos, images, or details related to crimes, suspects, or the time and place of criminal incidents.

The decision came in response to a request by the Independent Human Rights Commission. According to the government’s statement, the commission urged that both direct and indirect coverage of crimes and suspects be suspended in order to safeguard the integrity of ongoing investigations and to protect the psychological well-being and social stability of citizens.
