Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani on Wednesday called on citizens to actively participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, stressing that abstention from voting would pave the way for the return of corrupt and failed officials.
Speaking at a public event, Sudani said the elections would play a decisive role in determining Iraq’s political future and called for the establishment of a political path that serves the interests of citizens rather than deepening crises or dragging Iraq into internal and external disputes.
He highlighted his government’s achievements across several sectors, noting that continued progress depends on voter awareness and broad participation in the democratic process.
"The government has made tangible progress in many areas,” Sudani said. "There is no justification for boycotting the vote. Not participating only opens the door for the corrupt and the failed to return, halting the country’s prosperity and development projects.”
