SULAIMANI — On an official visit at the invitation of the
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi
arrived in the capital Tehran on Sunday (September 12).
Following his meeting with Kadhimi, Raisi said during a joint press conference that both sides have
approved to remove entry visas for ordinary passport holders between the
countries.
"We discussed the financial and banking relations between
the two countries and took several decisions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kadhimi thanked and praised Iran’s role in Iraq’s
war against Islamic State (ISIS).
In a statement before departure, Kadhimi said that the visit
aims to strengthen bilateral relations, open horizons of cooperation in various
fields, and focus on the depth of the relationship between the two friendly
countries.
He said that Iraq succeeded in playing a pivotal role in the
region by strengthening the strategic partnership.
Later, Kadhimi will meet with Iranian leaders and discuss issues
of common interest, including strengthening the region's security and
stability.
