The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has agreed to increase the monthly salaries of political prisoners in the Kurdistan Region to match those paid in Iraq.
Ahmad Rasul, Director of the Political Prisoners’ Affairs Service, said on Wednesday that an agreement has been reached to transfer the files of political prisoners to Baghdad, allowing their salaries to be adjusted under the federal system.
He said the monthly payment will increase from 500,000 dinars to 1.2 million dinars, adding that the names of 25,618 political prisoners have been prepared and are awaiting approval by the Council of Ministers.
