Shaswar Abdulwahid Qadir, leader of the new generation movement, sent a message from prison urging the people of the Kurdistan Region to vote on November 11 and the security forces on November 9, calling it the only solution for change.
In his message on Monday, October 27, 2025, he said the movement’s election slogan is "They have been lying for years, and now they are lying again.” He criticized the ruling authorities, saying, "Anyone who believes them after 34 years doubts their own mind and conscience.”
He called on citizens to vote for the new generation movement to "defend the truth and stand against oppression,” expressing hope that "happiness will return to people’s lives” after the elections.
Shaswar Abdulwahid was arrested on August 12, 2025, after security forces raided his home in Sulaimanyah without prior notice. The Sulaimanyah court sentenced him to five months in prison following unproven complaints. His arrest drew widespread reactions, with many viewing it as politically motivated due to his criticism of the government ahead of the elections.
