Omid Mohammed, leader of the New generation Movement list in Kirkuk, called on Tuesday for voters to "punish all the forces that have oppressed Kirkuk,” urging people to go to the polls and cast their ballots.
"Today is an important day for the Kurds and the people of Kirkuk, and we demand that the people punish all the forces that have oppressed Kirkuk,” Omid Mohammed told reporters. He also warned voters not to trust what he called false reports from ruling-party media.
"We ask you to place your trust in us this time so we can serve the people of Kirkuk,” he added in remarks carried by NRT.
Sirwa Abdulwahid, leader of the New generation Movement list in Sulaimanyah, similarly said the election is a key moment for citizens to respond to long standing injustices.
