Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani announced that the Iraqi parliamentary elections are being held in a calm and stable atmosphere, reaffirming the government’s commitment to democracy and the peaceful transfer of power.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote in Baghdad’s Karada Maryam district on Tuesday, Sudani said the elections are taking place on schedule, which underscores Iraq’s progress toward political stability.
He described the vote as a historic moment for the Iraqi people, noting that through this democratic process, citizens will determine who governs and shape the future of Iraq.
Voting began at 7 a.m., with 21,404,291 citizens eligible to cast their ballots nationwide.
