The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) revealed on Wednesday that the value of digital transactions in the country has surpassed 200 trillion dinars, marking a major milestone in Iraq’s financial transformation.
The bank stated that around 5.6 million employees now receive their salaries via digital financial cards, while the government collected about seven trillion dinars in revenue during the first eight months of this year.
According to the CBI, the government expects to generate 750 billion dinars through digital revenues by the end of 2025. Officials said that transferring salary payments into bank accounts has revolutionized Iraq’s electronic financial exchange system.
