Iraqi Finance Minister Taif Sami told NRT on Sunday that the salaries for August will be sent today, with the total amount expected to exceed 950 billion dinars.
The Iraqi Ministry of Finance approved the payment of the Kurdistan Region’s August salaries on Friday, even though all institutions were closed. Under the agreement between Baghdad and the outgoing KRG cabinet, salaries are to be disbursed one month after the handover of oil and non-oil revenues.
Meanwhile, the outgoing government had earlier stated that the oil handover would last for three months, casting doubt on the payment of the remaining four months’ salaries for this year.
