Iraqi Minister of Planning Mohammed Tamim announced that the poverty rate in Iraq has decreased by 2.5 percent compared to previous years, reflecting the impact of recent government policies and job creation initiatives.

In a statement on Thursday, Tamim said that the poverty rate had previously stood at 20 percent, but due to the government's development strategies, it has now fallen to 17.5 percent. He emphasized that the reduction demonstrates the effectiveness of current plans aimed at improving living standards and supporting vulnerable communities.

The United Nations also commended the Iraqi government’s efforts in combating poverty and promoting social welfare across the country.
