Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Aun Dhiab, announced Tuesday that the government has allocated funding for the construction of three new dams and plans to build a total of 36 across the country.
According to the minister, funding has already been secured for dams in Karbala, Nineveh, and Muthanna. The broader plan includes building 36 dams in various regions of Iraq to enhance groundwater storage and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
