The Iraqi Grain Trading Company (IGTC) announced its intention to receive all wheat produced by farmers in the Kurdistan Region this year.
Speaking at a press conference in Sulaimani on Tuesday, Director General Haider Garawi stated that 3.6 million tons of wheat have been received so far from farmers across Iraq.
He noted that they are working to collect the entire wheat output, which is expected to exceed 4 million tons this year. However, he pointed out that overall wheat production has declined by around 2 million tons due to reduced rainfall and water shortages.
