The leader of the Nasr coalition, Haider al-Abadi, stated that the current agreement between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Baghdad is only a temporary solution, warning that unresolved issues will likely resurface soon.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, July 31, 2025, Abadi said that both oil and non-oil revenues remain under the control of the two ruling parties in the Kurdistan Region. He emphasized that the only viable path to a lasting resolution is to put an end to oil smuggling.
Abadi cautioned that unless this issue is addressed, the same financial and political disputes between the two governments will return.
