The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has reiterated the importance of unity and coordination between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) amid ongoing discussions to form a new cabinet.
KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said Sunday that reaching an agreement to form a new cabinet is a top priority and must happen without further delay. He emphasized the need for continued coordination between the main ruling parties to ensure political stability in the region.
In a related development, U.S. Consul General in Erbil, Jackie Rosen, met with KRG Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and expressed Washington’s support for accelerating the formation process. She underscored the significance of political unity in advancing reforms and improving governance.
The deputy prime minister confirmed that both the PUK and KDP have already agreed on a roadmap for governance and are working toward a final agreement in the near future.
