The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has raised alarm over the dramatic increase in drug trafficking and usage across the region, calling it a growing national security threat.
Speaking at the National Campaign to Combat Drugs, Interior Minister Rebar Ahmad warned that drug abuse has become as dangerous as terrorism. He noted that the Kurdistan Region, due to its geographic and political conditions, is increasingly vulnerable to drug-related crimes, especially among youth.
