Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister Hisham Alawi stated on Saturday that Iraq’s political and security situation has stabilized, creating a foundation for job creation and economic growth. Speaking to NRT during the Arab Summit in Baghdad, he noted that Iraq is now in a position to play a greater regional role.
Alawi revealed that Iraq has proposed the establishment of a reconstruction fund for Palestine—a major financial initiative that could also serve as a support mechanism for Arab countries facing crises. He added that the summit will address ongoing challenges in Syria, Libya, Somalia, and Palestine.
