The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Wednesday approved a new electricity pricing structure, raising rates from 72 dinars to as high as 350 dinars per kilowatt in a tiered system.

The decision was confirmed after the executive government spokesman announced that the cabinet had unanimously fixed the electricity prices. Under the new five-stage structure, consumption up to 400 kilowatts will be priced at 72 dinars, while usage between 400 and 800 kilowatts will be charged at 108 dinars. Further stages and rates are expected to follow as part of the government’s broader plan to manage high electricity demands and costs.
