SULAIMANI — The senior advisor to Kurdistan Region President
Nechirvan Barzani said the Kurdistan parliamentary election may be held some
time between December 15 to January 15.
The advisor, Dilshad Shahab, said during an appearance on
NRT’s Taw u Twe program that the Kurdistan Region has taken positive steps
toward holding elections and that every effort is being made to begin the
polls.
He said the election must be held this year because
otherwise, the government’s institutions would fall into a legal gap.
The Deputy Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament, Hemin
Hawrami, said the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) must set a date for the
elections 60 days before the extended parliamentary term ends.
